1. IntroductionIn this document you will find instructions on how to install the Nord Electro Tool. This application is used to exchange and rearrange piano samples in your Nord Electro via USB. 2. Installation Instructions2.1 Windows 98SE/2000/XP2.1.1 Driver InstallationNote: If you already have a Nord Electro USB Device Driver installed, skip this section and move on to Software Installation. It has not been changed and this version of the software will work fine with the old installation of the driver.Before you can use the Nord Electro Tool on the Windows platform you need to install the Nord Electro USB Driver. Start by connecting a USB cable between the Nord Electro and your computer. The "Found New Hardware" wizard should appear. On Windows 2000 and XP you can let the wizard search the CD for the driver, simply choosing next. On Windows 98SE you must specify the folder where the driver is located. You find the driver on the CD in "[CD DRIVE:]\Nord Electro 2\USB Driver\" 2.1.2 Software InstallationRun "Install Nord Electro Tool v3.00.exe" and follow the instructions carefully. The Nord Electro Tool can be accessed from the start menu when the installation procedure is finished.2.2 Mac OS X 10.2/10.3Drag the "Nord Electro Tool 3.00" application to your "Applications" folder.3. Piano Sample LibraryThe "Piano Sample Library v3.0" can be found on the "Nord Software CD" in the "[CD DRIVE:]\Nord Electro 2\Sounds\Piano Sample Library v3.0\" folder. It is also available for download at Clavia's web page www.clavia.se. The library consist of 14 different pianos stored in a Clavia proprietary format called ".cn3" which is the file type recognized by the Nord Electro Tool. Note that previous versions of this tool worked with piano samples called ".cn2". These files are not compatible with the Nord Electro v3.00. The table below shows the factory setup for the Nord Electro. Text in Bold represents the name of the "Piano Selector" position printed on the Nord Electro's front panel. Text in italics is the name of the corresponding file to download to that position.

Troubleshooting5.1 USB CommunicationThis software needs to connect to the Nord Electro via its USB port for correct operation. The software reports a valid connection by showing the message "Connected to Nord Electro". 5.1.1 No Nord Electro FoundIf the software shows the message "No Nord Electro found. Check USB connections", try the following actions:
5.1.2 Version MismatchIf the software shows the message "Connected to Nord Electro - OS version NOT supported". there is a version mismatch between between The Electro Tool and the Electro OS. This application requires that the OS in the Nord Electro is of version 3.00 or higher and will not connect to older versions.
